Description: This wine demonstrates a fleshy body, chalky tannin and ripe new world fruit. Big flavors of Bing cherry, black tea, cedar, smoke, tarragon and sage. This is classic GSM with brambly ripe dark fruit. Pairings for this wine include rustic grilled dishes like rib eye and lamb chops, pancetta wrapped figs, spit roasted meat and desserts with rich dark chocolate, cream and berries.
Best of Class Winner, 2011 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
My Review: While I did not like the Viognier previously blogged about, this wine was a different story. This is the definition of a big, big wine and was very complex from the fist sniff to the last finish. It was well balanced despite being so big and seemed to be a mix between a new and old world red wine. I was very impressed with this wine and apparently the San Francisco Chronicle agrees. Definitely worth the $38.
