Tasting - Cantina di Casteggio Moscato di Pavia

Name: Cantina di Casteggio Moscato di Pavia

Variety: Muscat

Country: Italy

Region: Pavia

Year: Did not say

Price: $7.95

Vintage Cellar Description: Bright, light golden color. Very aromatic nose of ripe apricots, sage, honey and a slight minerality. Medium bodied, sweet and fruity with flavors of apricots and tangerine. Well balanced acidity and medium finish with layers of sweet and citrus fruit.

My Review:  This was a surprisingly good Moscato.  I was expecting sweet and got sweet but it was not over the top.  Maybe I'm comparing the sweetness to the Muscadine wine previously blogged that was way way way over the top, but I really thought it was a good level of sweetness.  If too sweet the sugar overtakes the rest of the flavors but in this case the rest of the wine was able to express itself.
